Feed Your Body Like Someone You Love

Craving the Familiar

After traveling or time away, I always find myself craving normal.

Not the busy kind of normal—but the kind that grounds me. The routines that remind me how good I can feel when I’m back in sync with myself.

For me, that starts with how I nourish my body.

Ditch the Perfection Myth

There’s a misconception that people who live a “healthy” lifestyle do it perfectly all the time. That’s just not the case. I certainly don’t follow it 100% of the time, and I’m ok with that.

Just last week on our family trip, I still made some of my go-to's (like my overnight chia oats for the fam), but being on the go and sharing meals meant chips, ice cream, travel sandwiches, and grab-what-you-can snacks. Not what I’d usually eat at home—but I make peace with it. You learn to be kind to yourself and work with what you’ve got when options are limited. This way, you can truly enjoy the your time away without pressure or guilt.

What matters most isn’t perfection. It’s the return, the daily routine you do day in and day out that makes the difference.

Nourishment Looks Different Now

Over the years, my relationship with food has evolved. I no longer eat just to get through the day or for convenience. I eat to feel good, think clearly, show up fully—and yes, I do enjoy the process along the way. I never feel like I'm missing out or sacrificing because the way my mind and body responds confirms I'm doing the right things.

Among other things, I've learned to look at food as:

  • Medicine

  • Energy

  • Information

  • Connection

And when you see it this way, it changes how you feed yourself—physically and emotionally. The choices you make follow suit.

Here's How I'm Reconnecting

This week, I’m coming back to basics:

  • Home-cooked meals

  • Simple, quality, whole ingredients

  • Lots of water

  • Food that feels like I’m being kind and loving my body

Nothing extreme. No guilt. Just nourishment that helps me feel like me again.

What kind of nourishment makes you feel your best—really?
Not the food you think you’re “supposed” to eat—but the meals that help you feel more energetic and more like yourself.
