How to Cut Through the Wellness Noise and Listen to Your Body

Never in our lifetime have we seen such a strong emphasis on food, health and fitness.

Community wellness events are now the IN thing, signing up for Hyrox races, GLP-1’s changing how society buys and eats food, more conversations and understanding about women’s health and longevity, some sort of health tracker/wearable on someone you know, and more discernment about the types of food we put in our bodies.

It’s an exciting time for those who have an interest and passion for it, but it can also be extremely confusing and overwhelming.

So much so that many people just say F it and ignore it all.

Not everyone has the time or appetite to go down rabbit holes and learn about all the things.

You also have influencers and even practitioners sharing their ‘expertise’ with conflicting information and potentially spreading toxic misinformation and fear.

That said, we still have an obesity problem, chronic disease on the rise and kids unhealthier than ever.

WHAT TO DO?

After all this is said and done, there’s only one thing that makes sense.

YOU are your greatest tracker.

Understanding your own body, its needs, how it functions and what makes it feel and run smoothly vs. not, should be the ultimate compass leading you.

I always emphasize to clients, what works for your friend may not work for you.

Every feeling, symptom, pain could potentially show up differently in your own body and you need to understand how to fix it.

You also need to ask questions, seek help and advocate for yourself, both in your doctor’s office and with trainers, health coaches, dietitians, etc.

Accountability and informed knowledge is the only way to effect sustainable change.

Sorry to say but the key to feeling (and looking) your best requires a lot of work.

There’s no sugar-coating it, but that work and the change required doesn’t have to happen overnight.

It takes time to build new habits, to understand what fuels your body the best, and what movements work.

And honestly, once you start feeling differently and start seeing change, you organically move towards that way of eating and living.

Not sure what prompted my mid-June musings but hope this resonated.
