50 Days to 50: A Reset

I realized over the weekend that turning 50 is in 50 days for me. And I’ll be honest—I’m not where I thought I’d be in many different areas. I thought I'd feel more together by now.

I sort of had a vision of how it would feel to arrive at this milestone. And right now, that vision feels… off. Unfinished. A bit incomplete. I feel kinda stuck.

But here’s what I’m realizing: milestones don’t mean anything unless we give them meaning. They don’t have to mark where you arrive—they can mark where you begin.

Sometimes, the most productive thing we can do is pause, breathe and remember what it feels like to feel good in our own body.

This is the beginning of a 7-week series I’m calling “50 Days to 50”—a way to realign with what really matters in midlife: nourishment, movement, mindset, connection, joy and the practices that actually help us thrive.

💫 This Week’s Focus: RESET

Before any big changes... before setting goals... before the "better routines"... We come back to the basics which is what I always harp on with clients. Now I'm taking it back to me.

Here’s how I’m resetting this week:

  • Listening to my body and recovering

    • With a couple recent injuries and chronic pain, I know I need to rest a bit but my brain tells me to push through. That's not always the best choice so I'm choosing take a step back and nurture my body with gentler movement.

  • Prioritizing sleep

    • Taking steps to ensure I have a quality night's rest has already shown a difference these last few days. Sleep is the time your brain and body get to recover, detox and restore themselves.

  • Making sure I hydrate well daily

    • Confession: I almost never hit my water intake goals which is ironic because it's such a huge foundation of health. For some reason, it's always been a struggle for me but this week I'm putting it at the top of my list.

  • Getting outside for a walk or sunlight every day

    • I'm a summer baby and sun gives me energy and vitality. The fact that the NYC area has been so dreary and rainy has been really messing with my mood, but I'm grabbing pieces of the outdoors when I can.

  • Doing one small thing daily that feels good.

    • This could be anything—my PT, writing, reading, a short adventure with the pup or a solo date or work block away from home.

None of this is complicated. But it’s the stuff that works. If you’ve been feeling scattered, low-energy, or just not yourself—maybe this is your invitation to reset too. No judgment. Just an honest check-in.

💭 Weekly Reflection Prompt: What’s one habit, thought or expectation you’re ready to release as you reset this week?

Here’s to the first step. Not toward reinvention… but toward reconnection.
